Saudi Arabia SASAEconomy Minister Faisal al-Ibrahim faisal al ibrahimannounced at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the government is rescoping various Vision 2030 projects and transferring entire project scopes to the private sector. This strategic adjustment is intended to prevent economic overheating, manage inflation, and reduce import pressures as the kingdom enters a new stage of its development. Faisal al-Ibrahimemphasized that the private sector is both ready and eager to take on these responsibilities, allowing the state to maintain a more agile management approach.
The kingdom has seen significant structural changes, with non-oil GDP now comprising more than 55% of real GDP. Over the past five years, non-oil sectors have delivered steady annual growth between 5-10%, demonstrating the momentum of the diversification strategy. Furthermore, the share of non-oil activities dependent on oil flows has dropped from approximately 90% to roughly 70%. Despite these gains, Saudi Arabiahas been heavily tapping debt markets in recent years because the price of Crude Oil has remained below the levels required to fully bankroll the massive investment program.
