Russian oil and gas revenue expected to drop by half this month
Russian state energy revenue is projected to fall to 410 billion roubles this month due to lower oil prices. This marks a nearly fifty percent drop from 2025.
Forecasted revenue for the Russian state oil and gas sector
RU is expected to reach 410 billion roubles in February, a figure that would almost halve year-on-year. This announced drop is attributed to a combination of a stronger rouble and lower international oil prices. The significant reduction in income comes at a critical time for the Kremlin, as oil and gas revenue is its main income source, accounting for more than one-fifth of Russian federal budget proceeds.
The anticipated February shortfall materially reduces federal budget receipts already under considerable strain due to heavy defence and security spending. This trend follows an already-noted year-on-year decline in oil and gas revenue during the January-February period, highlighting the pressure on the state's finances. Market factors have directly influenced the bottom line for major oil companies and the broader energy industry.
