Russia Seizes Controlling Stake in Farming Firm Rusagro
A Moscow court ruled that billionaire Vadim Moshkovich and his associates must transfer a 67 billion rouble stake in Rusagro to the state following corruption allegations. This seizure marks one of the most significant property redistributions since 2022 as the government continues to nationalize strategic private assets.
A Russia court ordered the seizure of a 68% stake in agriculture giant Rusagro on Tuesday afternoon. The stake, valued at 67 billion roubles ($886 million), belonged to billionaire founder Vadim Moshkovich and his associates. This ruling marks one of the largest state asset grabs since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
### State Expands Control Over Food Security The court ruled that Moshkovich violated anti-corruption laws during his previous tenure in the Federation Council. Prosecutors also linked the seizure to a March 2025 arrest where Moshkovich was charged with embezzling 30 billion roubles. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
