RHEINMETALL AG expects to sign a 12 billion euro contract in the second quarter to lead Germany's delayed F126 frigate program. CEO Armin Papperger said the deal would see the firm replace Dutch shipbuilder Damen as the project's general contractor. The move signals Rheinmetall's expansion into the naval sector following its acquisition of warship maker NVL in March.
