RBI allows ICICI entities to increase stake in HDFC Bank to nearly ten percent

The Reserve Bank of India has authorized ICICI group entities to increase their holding in HDFC Bank. This approval allows the stake to rise up to 9.95 percent.

The Reserve Bank of India has approved an application from ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company and other ICICI group entities to increase their combined stake in HDFC Bank to as much as 9.95 percent. The approval, which was finalized on February 11, 2026, allows for a significant increase from the 4.07 percent stake the group held as of February 6 in HDFC Bank, which is India ININ’s largest bank by market value, estimated at about $157 billion.
