Putin seeks balanced use of higher energy revenues
Putin urged officials to manage rising energy revenues for budget stability. He also asked oil firms to repay debts and shield against external market risks.
President Vladimir Putin of Russia has directed the government to implement balanced decisions regarding the allocation of increased state revenues from energy exports following a significant rise in global prices. The president emphasized the necessity of shielding the national economy and public accounts from external risks while requesting that oil companies utilize these additional revenues to settle substantial debts with banking institutions.

Prior to this change, the government had prepared austerity measures to protect the fiscal reserve fund from depletion.
During a meeting with officials, Putin highlighted the importance of maintaining a long-term balance in the federal budget through the careful management of cyclical revenues.
