Philippine central bank cuts interest rates for sixth straight time to bolster growth

The Philippine central bank cut its key rate to 4.25 percent today to bolster growth. Officials remain uncertain about how fast economic confidence will return.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) cut its overnight reverse repurchase rate by 25 basis points to 4.25% today, seeking to shore up the Philippines PHPH as economic momentum falters. This decision, overseen by Governor Eli Remolona, comes after the Philippine economy saw growth slow to 3.0% in the final quarter, a level representing a near five-year low.
