Pertamina Merges Refinery and Shipping Units Into Trading Arm to Streamline Downstream Operations
Indonesia's state energy firm Pertamina has completed a restructuring of its downstream operations, merging its refinery unit PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and shipping unit PT Pertamina International Shipping into its trading and logistics arm PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, effective February 1, 2026, to reduce redundancies and accelerate service delivery.
Pertamina has completed an internal restructuring of its downstream operations, merging two core units into its trading and logistics division effective February 1, 2026. The integration combines PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, the company's refinery unit, and PT Pertamina International Shipping, its shipping operations, into PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Pertamina's established trading and logistics arm.
The consolidation represents a significant structural reorganization within Indonesia's
ID state-controlled energy company. By bringing refinery and shipping operations under the umbrella of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Pertamina aims to align refinery and logistics functions across distribution, marketing and supply chain management. The company states that the merger is intended to integrate refinery and logistics operations to improve its downstream performance.
