Oracle Discloses Two Billion Dollar Stake in TikTok US
Oracle reports its stake in the TikTok US joint venture is worth two billion dollars. The filing follows a deal allowing ByteDance to keep a minority interest.
A recent regulatory filing has revealed that the stake held by Oracle Corporation in the United States business operations of TikTok is valued at approximately $2 billion. This disclosure comes shortly after the social media platform's parent company, based in China, finalized an agreement to establish a majority-owned American joint venture known as TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. Under the terms of the restructuring, a group of global and American investors maintains an 80.1% stake in the entity, while ByteDance retains the remaining 19.9%. The joint venture is led by three managing investors: Oracle, the private equity firm Silver Lake, and MGX, an investment firm headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. Each of these three primary investors holds a 15% share in the venture. The leadership of the venture was solidified in January with the appointment of Adam Presser as Chief Executive Officer. This corporate milestone follows years of legal and political challenges that began in August 2020. At that time, former President Donald Trump attempted to ban the platform due to national security concerns. Although a 2024 law required a divestiture by January 2025, the current administration opted not to enforce a total ban following the Supreme Court's validation of the measure. Beyond its involvement with TikTok, Oracle has reported strong financial performance driven by the ongoing expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. The cloud computing giant estimated on Tuesday that the demand for AI data centers will continue to push its revenue growth beyond market expectations through 2027. For the third quarter ending February 28, the company posted total revenue of $17.19 billion, surpassing the $16.91 billion average analyst estimate compiled by LSEG.
