This development coincided with an announcement from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding an increase in temporary tariffs on imports, which created renewed uncertainty for global growth and fuel demand. The combination of reduced conflict risk and tariff-driven demand uncertainty drove the immediate move in Brent crude futures and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures.
