NYSE short interest increased 1.8 percent in late May
Short interest on the New York Stock Exchange rose 1.8 percent in late May to 21.931 billion shares. This compares with 21.553 billion shares on May 15.
The New York Stock Exchange reported that short interest rose 1.8% in late May. Total short positions reached 21.931 billion shares on May 29, up from 21.553 billion on May 15. Rising short interest signals growing bearish sentiment as more investors bet on falling equity prices.
