Nomura Seeks US Asset Management Acquisitions for Growth
Nomura Holdings CEO Kentaro Okuda announced the firm is seeking US investment management acquisitions to complement its recent 1.8 billion dollar Macquarie deal. The brokerage aims to reach 750 billion yen in pretax income by 2031 while significantly expanding its private credit assets.
NOMURA HOLDINGS INC is seeking fund management acquisitions in the U.S. to expand its investment business following a $1.8 billion deal last year for Macquarie's U.S. and European public asset management businesses. This acquisition was Nomura's largest since 2008, when it acquired assets of Lehman Brothers, though it later wrote down those Lehman holdings. Nomura aims to increase its annual pretax income from investment management to 150 billion yen by March 2031.
