Netflix declines to raise offer for Warner Bros Discovery
Netflix will not raise its offer for Warner Bros Discovery. The board found a rival bid from Paramount Skydance superior to the current merger agreement.
Netflix, Inc. announced on Thursday that it will not increase its offer for Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. after the target company's board identified a rival bid as a more attractive option. The decision follows an evaluation by the Warner Bros. Discovery board, which determined that the latest proposal from PARAMOUNT GLOBAL-CLASS A and Skydance constituted a superior proposal compared to the existing merger agreement with the streaming giant. The refusal to raise the bid marks a significant turn in the high-stakes battle for media consolidation. While Netflix had been a primary contender in the merger talks, the board's preference for the Paramount-Skydance terms has effectively halted the streaming pioneer's current pursuit of the HBO Max owner. Industry analysts suggest this move could lead to a swift finalization of the deal with the Paramount-led consortium, as Netflix has signaled it will not engage in a bidding war.
