Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is set to monitor its liquidity position closely as it evaluates participation in a $550 billion investment initiative directed by Japan toward the United_States. The program involves significant coordination between private lenders and state-run organizations, including the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), which provide the necessary equity and insurance for large-scale projects.

Chief Financial Officer Jun Togawa emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced balance sheet during this period of expansion.

\"We must be vigilant.\"

Togawa noted that a sudden influx of long-term loans could strain the bank's Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR). This metric, part of the Basel III regulatory standards, was designed to ensure financial institutions hold sufficient long-term funding to support their illiquid assets and withstand market volatility.

\"A sharp and sudden rise in long-term loans would be challenging from an NSFR perspective.\"

While the bank has not commented on specific trade agreements signed between Tokyo and Washington last year, several infrastructure and energy deals are currently under review. These developments are expected to gain further momentum during an upcoming diplomatic visit by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to meet with President Donald Trump, where additional project details may be finalized.
