MX saw its economic activity expand by 0.4 percent in December compared to the previous month, according to a report announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). This growth represents a reversal of the revised 0.1 percent contraction recorded in November, signaling a near-term rebound in measured economic activity for the final month of the year.
The reported figures significantly outperformed market expectations. The 0.4 percent monthly increase exceeded the 0.2 percent growth projected in a Reuters forecast. Furthermore, the Mexican economy achieved a year-on-year growth rate of 3.3 percent in December, which surpassed the 2.6 percent expansion anticipated by analysts in the same Reuters poll.
