Televisa Triples First Quarter Profit Despite Revenue Slip

Grupo Televisa tripled its Q1 net profit to 1.03 billion pesos ($57 million) despite a 3.1% decline in revenue. The result beat LSEG analyst forecasts of $1.9 million in profit and $808.9 million in revenue. Expanding margins and a larger Univision stake are offsetting weakness in the satellite broadcasting segment.
Mexico-based Televisa reported revenue of 14.51 billion pesos, down from 14.97 billion pesos a year earlier. A slump in the satellite segment, which carries exclusive sports and concerts, drove the top-line contraction.
