McDonald's Launches New Strategy to Improve Operations
The burger giant announced its McDonald's NEXT initiative to streamline restaurant operations and improve food quality. The strategy aims to win back lower-income diners through increased automation and social media marketing as the company prepares to release detailed financial targets this September.
MCDONALD'S CORP will launch a new corporate strategy focused on automation and food quality to streamline restaurant operations. The plan, titled "McDonald’s>NEXT," succeeds the 2020 "Accelerating the Arches" program. The move targets a recovery in traffic as lower-income consumers in the United States reduce restaurant spending.
### Reclaiming Value Perceptions The strategy arrives as the chain faces pressure on its value branding. Data from UBS Evidence Labs showed the share of domestic customers who view the brand as a good value dropped from 55% in 2020 to 40% in 2024. CEO Chris Kempczinski stated in a company memo that while value perceptions have rebounded in most markets, the firm must re-earn every visit.
