Marsa Maroc Signs Deal to Manage Liberia Main Port in Monrovia

Morocco's leading port operator Marsa Maroc has signed a deal to manage the Port of Monrovia. The move marks a significant step in its African expansion plan.

Marsa Maroc has finalized an agreement with the Liberia Ports Authority for its subsidiary, Marsa Maroc International Logistics (MMIL) , to manage the Port of Monrovia . Operations are set to begin in the first half of 2026. The deal involves significant rehabilitation works, the deployment of port equipment, and the application of bulk-handling expertise to modernize the facility in Liberia LRLR.
A key component of the arrangement is the New multipurpose terminal at the port of Monrovia (targeted concession) . This new terminal is intended to handle the majority of Liberia's trade flows. The project is part of a broader expansion by the Morocco MAMA based port operator, which currently manages 34 terminals across 20 ports and handles more than 60 million metric tons of cargo annually.
