Rubio discusses Iran and Hormuz with UK and Australia
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with UK and Australian officials about the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump warned that the ceasefire is now fragile.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio held calls Monday to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which previously handled 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. The closure follows the February 28 outbreak of war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. A ceasefire reached over a month ago remains fragile.
Rubio spoke with Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong and United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Monday. The discussions focused on securing the Strait of Hormuz against Iranian interference. Iran currently blocks nearly all vessels except its own from the waterway.
