Malaysia Renews Lynas Operating Licence for 10 Years
Malaysia extended the operating licence for Lynas Rare Earths by 10 years. The decision allows the Australian miner to continue processing rare earths locally.
The government of Malaysia has granted a 10-year operating license renewal to LYNAS RARE EARTHS LTD, authorizing the firm to continue importing and processing raw materials that contain natural radioactive elements. The Australia-based miner confirmed on Monday that the Malaysian Department of Atomic Energy is expected to formally issue the license shortly, with the new terms becoming effective on March 3.
Following the news, shares of the rare earths producer climbed as much as 7% to reach A$20.30, their highest level since October 2025. This upward movement occurred despite a broader market decline, as the ASX 200 benchmark fell by approximately 0.5% during early trading.
