The central bank of Malaysia maintained its benchmark interest rate for the fourth consecutive meeting on Thursday, as strong economic growth and modest inflation provided a buffer against tariff uncertainties and global geopolitical tensions. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) kept the overnight policy rate at 2.75%, matching the predictions of all 30 economists surveyed by Reuters. The bank indicated that the current monetary stance remains appropriate and supportive of the economy, despite ongoing uncertainties from international conflicts.
"The impact to the global and Malaysian economy will depend on how these developments evolve."
