The central bank of Malawi has reduced its benchmark interest rate by 200 basis points, lowering the policy rate to 24%. This decision marks the first rate-setting meeting under the leadership of the new governor, George Partridge, as the nation attempts to balance economic growth with price stability.
In an official statement, the central bank explained that the decision was driven by a moderating inflationary environment.
