Lufthansa adds Asia and Africa flights amid hub restrictions
Lufthansa is adding flights to cities like Singapore and Bangkok due to rising demand. Restrictions at Middle East hubs have shifted global travel patterns.
The aviation group Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced on Tuesday that it is introducing additional flight capacity to Asia and Africa to meet surging demand. Headquartered in Germany, the company indicated that the move responds to a sharp increase in short-notice bookings for long-haul travel. The expanded schedule includes more frequent services between Munich and Singapore, as well as routes from Frankfurt to Cape Town in South Africa and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the group's subsidiary in Austria, Austrian Airlines, has already implemented 10 special flights connecting Vienna and Bangkok, Thailand. This strategic expansion comes as the global airline industry faces significant disruption. Major transit hubs in the United Arab Emirates, particularly Dubai, and Qatar, including Doha, are currently under severe operational constraints. These difficulties are linked to the ongoing war in Iran, which has created one of the most substantial shocks to the industry in recent years.
