Lonza Group AG has reached a definitive agreement to sell its capsules and health ingredients business to the private equity firm Lone Star Funds for an enterprise value of 2.3 billion Swiss francs, or approximately $3.0 billion. The divestiture marks a major strategic shift for the manufacturer, which is based in Switzerland, as it moves toward a singular focus on its core contract drug manufacturing services.
