LNG Canada to decide on phase two expansion by year end
Canada's Natural Resources Minister says LNG Canada will decide on a phase two expansion by year end. The project aims to double current export capacity.
SHELL PLC and its partners will decide on the phase two expansion of the LNG Canada project by the end of this year. The proposed expansion would double the facility's current capacity to 28 million metric tons per year. This decision will determine whether Canada secures its position as a major global exporter of liquified natural gas.
### Funding Boost for Final Engineering Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson said on Thursday that project partners approved hundreds of millions of dollars in incremental funding on May 1. This capital supports final engineering, supply chain procurement, and agreements with First Nations. The federal government, British Columbia, and Shell are collectively working to resolve the final items required for the investment decision.
