Libya Announces Five Year Natural Gas Production Increase to Boost European Exports

Libya plans to increase natural gas production over five years to nearly 1 billion cubic feet per day while starting shale gas drilling later this year.

Libya LYLYhas unveiled plans to substantially increase its natural gas production over the next five years in an effort to boost supply available for export to Europe by early 2030. Speaking to delegates at the LNG2026 conference today, Massoud Suleman massoud suleman, the chairman of the National Oil Corporation, announced that the country is targeting a production increase of up to nearly 1 billion standard cubic feet per day. The strategy is built upon a total reserve base estimated at 80 trillion cubic feet, which includes both conventional and unconventional gas resources.
