Legal & General misses annual profit expectations for 2025
British insurer Legal & General reported a core operating profit of 1.62 billion pounds for 2025. This result fell slightly short of analyst expectations.
The United Kingdom financial services provider Legal & General Group Plc reported its annual financial results on Wednesday, revealing a core operating profit that slightly missed analyst expectations. For the fiscal year ending December 2025, the insurer recorded a profit of 1.62 billion pounds ($2.18 billion), falling just short of the 1.65 billion pounds consensus estimate gathered from a company-compiled poll of analysts. This performance comes as the company undergoes a significant internal transition under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Antonio Simoes, who has initiated a comprehensive company-wide cost overhaul. The overhaul is aimed at improving efficiency and long-term profitability by modernizing the group's operations. Despite missing the marginal profit target, the group remains focused on its strategic restructuring efforts while navigating a complex macroeconomic environment.
