Kenya private sector activity fell to 46.6 in May as rising costs drove the sharpest contraction since July 2024. The Stanbic Bank Kenya PMI dropped from 49.4 in April, marking a third consecutive month of shrinking business activity. Intensifying inflationary pressures are squeezing consumer demand and business margins, threatening the broader 4.9% GDP growth forecast for 2026.
