Kenya KCB Group reports 11 percent rise in 2025 profit
KCB Group reported a 2025 pre-tax profit of 90.9 billion shillings. Higher interest income and regional growth offset a slight rise in loan impairments today.
KCB Group has announced an 11% rise in its full-year pre-tax profit for 2025, primarily driven by a significant increase in interest income. The banking institution reported a pre-tax profit of 90.9 billion Kenyan shillings ($703.83 million), an increase from the 82 billion shillings recorded in the previous year. While the group is based in Kenya, its operations across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Burundi were vital to its success. These regional subsidiaries accounted for 31% of the group's overall pre-tax profit. The group's net interest income rose by 8% to 148.0 billion shillings, up from 137.3 billion shillings in 2024. Additionally, total assets grew by 9% to reach 2.15 trillion shillings. During an investor briefing, Lawrence Kimathi, the group's finance director, stated that loan impairments had increased to 32.4 billion shillings, compared with 30 billion shillings in the prior year.
