Kenya considers new Eurobond issuance to manage maturing debt obligations

Finance Minister John Mbadi says Kenya may return to the Eurobond market to manage debt. The government is also seeking a strategic investor for Kenya Airways.

Kenya KEKE is considering the issuance of new bonds in the Eurobond market to settle maturing debt as part of its ongoing liability-management operations. John Mbadi, the head of the Ministry of Finance (Kenya), stated on Wednesday that the move is intended to smooth the government's debt maturity curve. He noted that a final decision on the proposal is currently under discussion and will be made at a later date.
