Japan Says G7 Will Discuss Global Bond Market Volatility
Katayama says G7 finance chiefs will discuss global bond volatility as yields rise. The benchmark 10-year Japanese yield recently hit a three-decade high.
Japan Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said Group of Seven (G7) finance chiefs will likely discuss global bond volatility during meetings next week. The move follows benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond yields hitting a three-decade high above 2.66% this week. Coordinated G7 scrutiny suggests rising concern that localized bond selloffs are now reinforcing each other across major global markets.
Katayama noted during an early morning press conference that yields have risen across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. These moves appear to be reinforcing each other across major markets, Katayama said.
