Gulf Airports Close and Markets Fall After Iranian Strikes
Iranian strikes across the Gulf killed three people and forced the closure of major airports. Regional markets fell as businesses cancelled Ramadan networking.
The Gulf region is experiencing its most widespread business disruption since the pandemic following retaliatory strikes by Iran. These attacks, which impacted every major state in the region, have resulted in airport closures, the halting of port operations, and significant volatility in financial markets. The strikes were launched in response to a joint military operation by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.
In the United Arab Emirates, the strikes led to three deaths and caused visible damage in major urban centers. For decades, the region has worked to establish itself as a premier global business hub, with Dubai evolving from a small fishing village into a center for luxury tourism and financial services.
