Iran blocked United States warships from entering the Strait of Hormuz on Monday after its navy issued warnings to foreign vessels. The semi-official Fars news agency reported that a U.S. warship had been hit by two missiles near the port of Jask at the southern entrance to the strait and turned back from its attempt to transit. The escalation coincides with a U.S. plan to escort neutral ships through the waterway during the ongoing conflict involving Israel.
