AIA First Quarter New Business Value Rises 13 Percent
The insurer reported a 13 percent rise in its first-quarter value of new business to 1.76 billion dollars. Growth was led by strong demand in Hong Kong and China.
AIA GROUP LTD grew its first-quarter value of new business (VONB) 13% to $1.76 billion. The result rose from $1.50 billion a year ago, fueled by 21% growth in the Hong Kong segment. Strong demand from mainland visitors seeking higher returns confirms AIA's recovery as a primary growth engine for regional insurance.
AIA reported the quarterly figures on Thursday morning. The 21% jump in Hong Kong VONB reflects sustained interest from local customers and visitors from mainland China. These visitors often seek insurance products with lower premiums and higher potential returns than those available in their home market.
