Prosecutors in Indonesia have conducted raids on companies linked to coal tycoon Samin Tan following his designation as a suspect in an illegal mining investigation. The Attorney General Office (AGO) confirmed the operation on Monday, which targeted assets associated with the businessman once known for his high-profile financial deal-making.

The probe focuses on PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT), a coal firm that allegedly continued extraction activities through 2025 despite its contract of work being terminated in 2017. This enforcement action is part of a broader initiative by President Prabowo Subianto to clean up the natural resources sector and eliminate illegal mining practices. AGO spokesperson Anang Supriatna noted that investigators have questioned more than 20 witnesses and seized several assets.
