Indian equity markets staged a recovery on Tuesday, climbing from their lowest levels in nearly a year. The rebound was sparked by a relief rally in global markets following de-escalatory remarks from United States President Donald Trump regarding tensions in the Middle East.

The Nifty 50 index concluded the session 0.97% higher at 24,261.60, while the BSE Sensex rose 0.82% to settle at 78,205.98. These gains follow a volatile Monday session where benchmark indexes saw their sharpest decline in a month, triggered by crude oil prices breaching the $100 per barrel mark. As a net energy importer, India remains highly sensitive to fluctuations in global oil costs.

Market sentiment improved after crude prices retreated. Brent futures fell 9.1% to $89.98 a barrel on Tuesday. The decline followed a period of heightened rhetoric where Iran's Revolutionary Guards threatened to halt oil exports from the region unless Israel and U.S. military actions ceased. President Trump responded by threatening significant retaliation if exports were blocked, a move investors interpreted as a sign of containment.

"Today's market is just reflecting what is happening on the crude side and the global risk-off sentiment taking a backseat temporarily, said Aishvarya Dadheech, founder and chief investment officer at Fident Asset Management."
"However, we will only see a major relief rally in the Indian market when crude goes down to $70 or below, and that will only happen when we have more clarity on the outcome of the war, Dadheech said."

Financial stocks provided significant momentum for the benchmarks. ICICI Bank Limited climbed 2.6%, and HDFC Bank rose 1%, both recovering from losses sustained in the previous session. The broader market also showed strength, with smallcap and midcap indexes rising 2.1% and 1.6%, respectively.

The drop in crude prices particularly benefited industries where oil is a primary raw material. InterGlobe Aviation Limited, which operates the budget carrier IndiGo, saw its shares jump 3.5%. Similarly, Asian Paints Limited recorded a 3.3% gain.

In individual stock movements, Dixon Technologies (India) Limited surged 11.3% after receiving government clearance for a joint venture with a Chinese firm. Dr Reddy's Laboratories also gained 2.1% following reports that the Delhi High Court permitted the manufacture of generic semaglutide for export.

The domestic currency and bond markets also reflected the positive shift. The Indian rupee appreciated 0.57% to 91.8050 against the U.S. dollar, while the benchmark 10-year government bond yield fell by more than 5 basis points.
