Indian markets trade flat amid renewed Mideast tensions
Indian shares opened flat on Wednesday as renewed U.S. and Iran hostilities weighed on sentiment. The Nifty 50 fell 0.04% while the Sensex added 0.09%.
The Nifty 50 fell 0.04% to 23,233.95 during the morning session on June 10 as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East stalled a recent rally. The BSE Sensex edged up 0.09% to 73,988.27 at the open. Renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran have pressured global risk appetite and oil prices.
### Geopolitical Friction Reverses Market Momentum The flat opening follows a 0.5% gain for the Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex in the previous session. Gains the previous day were supported by the Reserve Bank of India and its foreign-currency swap facility for banks. However, sentiment soured after the U.S. launched strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
