Indian Equities Rise as Banks Lead Market Gains
The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex rose 0.46% on Tuesday as banking stocks rallied following the Reserve Bank of India's new concessional swap facility for overseas borrowings. Market sentiment also improved as geopolitical tensions eased between Iran and Israel and global crude oil prices declined.
India equities rose during the morning of June 9 as the Nifty 50 climbed 0.46% to 23,225.75. The gains followed a central bank move to ease foreign-currency borrowing and a pause in Middle East hostilities. Lower energy costs and improved bank liquidity are driving investor appetite for domestic risk assets.
### RBI Swap Facility Boosts Financials The Reserve Bank of India introduced a concessional forex swap facility for overseas borrowings with maturities of at least three years. This policy allows lenders to reduce hedging costs and increases the appeal of foreign-currency debt. Consequently, bank and financial sectors each rose 1% in morning trading.
