Indian Rupee Edges Higher After Hitting Record Low
The rupee rose to 93.84 on Tuesday after hitting a record low. Gains were limited by foreign outflows and data showing the weakest sector growth since late 2022.
The currency of India edged higher on Tuesday, recovering from a record low hit in the previous session. This marginal gain comes as investors navigate conflicting signals regarding potential diplomatic resolutions to the conflict between the United States and Iran.
As of late morning, the rupee was trading at 93.84, a 0.1% improvement from its prior close. On Monday, the currency had plummeted to an all-time low of 93.98, pressured by fears of an escalating regional war. While American leadership suggested a pause in plans to strike Iranian infrastructure following discussions, officials in Tehran denied any such negotiations and proceeded with missile strikes against Israel.
