India is experiencing a significant slowdown in its rice exports as the United States-Israel war on Iran drives up freight and insurance costs. This disruption is particularly impactful as India accounts for more than 40% of the global rice trade, typically shipping more than the combined exports of the next three biggest suppliers: Thailand, Vietnam, and Pakistan. Rising freight rates are alarming both buyers and sellers, leading to a substantial decrease in the signing of new export deals.
