Court Halts Antitrust Probe into SAIL
The Madras High Court put an investigation into SAIL on hold earlier this week following claims of procedural lapses. The probe involves 28 steel companies.
The Madras High Court has issued a stay on an ongoing antitrust investigation into the state-run STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA, according to recent court records and legal filings. The decision follows a legal challenge by the company, which alleged procedural lapses by the national competition watchdog.
The case represents one of the most significant antitrust actions within the steel sector of India. In January, a probe conducted by the Competition Commission of India concluded that 28 firms had engaged in price collusion. Among the major industry players named in the investigation were TATA STEEL LTD, JSW STEEL LTD, and the state-owned Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
