India Seeks to Ease Shipping Delays and High Costs
Trade Minister Piyush Goyal is meeting with shipping firms to release cargoes delayed by regional conflict. India also aims to lower high costs for exporters.
India Trade Minister Piyush Goyal is holding talks with the shipping ministry and industry representatives to resolve the issue of cargoes stranded by disruptions in global trade routes. The initiative follows growing conflict in the Middle East, which has forced many shipments to be delayed or rerouted, impacting the flow of Indian exports. Minister Goyal indicated that the government is seeking ways to reduce the financial pressure on businesses currently navigating these logistical hurdles.

The discussions are focused on freeing up marooned shipments and addressing the sharp increase in operational costs for exporters. Specifically, the government is looking into the rising costs of maritime insurance and freight charges, which have escalated due to the instability in key shipping lanes.
India will look at ways to ease the burden on exporters, such as the high cost of insurance and cargo shipments.
By collaborating with shipping companies and the maritime ministry, the trade department aims to provide a more stable environment for international trade despite the ongoing regional tensions. The government remains committed to ensuring that the export sector receives the necessary support to overcome these external challenges and maintain its global competitiveness.
