India tenders for 2.5 million tons of urea imports
India is tendering for 2.5 million tons of urea to secure crop nutrients for June planting. The move addresses supply gaps caused by the Middle East conflict.
India, the world's largest importer of urea, is seeking to purchase 2.5 million metric tons of the fertilizer to stabilize domestic supplies amid disruptions in the Middle East. The move comes as geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran impact global trade and energy availability.
State-run Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) issued a tender on Saturday to import 1.5 million tons through the country's west coast, with the remaining 1 million tons slated for the east coast. According to the company's website, bids must be submitted by April 15, and shipments are expected to depart by June 14.
