India Resumes Iranian LPG Imports After U.S. Eases Sanctions
India received its first Iranian LPG cargo in years after the U.S. eased sanctions. State retailers will share the shipment to address a domestic gas crisis.
India has received its first shipment of Iranian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in several years, following a temporary relaxation of sanctions by the United States on Iran and its refined fuel exports. This development marks a significant shift in energy procurement for the South Asian nation, which had ceased energy trade with Tehran in 2019 to comply with international diplomatic pressure.
The sanctioned tanker Aurora, which was initially destined for China, is expected to arrive at the port of Mangalore on the western coast of India. This arrival comes as the region manages significant disruptions to energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iranian interests.
