The federal fiscal deficit for India reached 9.8 trillion rupees during the April-January period, accounting for 63% of the annual target for the financial year ending March 31, 2026. This gap between government expenditure and revenue is equivalent to approximately $107.69 billion, based on the current valuation of the US Dollar / Indian Rupee. The figures released by the government on Friday indicate that the fiscal shortfall is progressing at a manageable pace relative to the full-year projections. With only two months remaining in the current fiscal cycle, the data provides a clear view of the administration's efforts to maintain fiscal discipline while navigating economic priorities.
