IMF Approves 163 Million Dollars for Papua New Guinea
The IMF Executive Board completed reviews of lending arrangements for Papua New Guinea to unlock 163 million dollars in funding. The capital aims to address foreign exchange shortages and climate change risks as national growth is projected to ease to 3.8 percent in 2026.
The International Monetary Fund approved $163 million in new funding for Papua New Guinea following a successful review of its lending programs. The disbursement includes $82 million for balance of payments support and $81 million for climate change vulnerabilities. The funding follows the completion of reviews for the Extended Fund Facility, Extended Credit Facility, and Resilience and Sustainability Facility.
