Hungary and Slovakia sign deal for new oil pipeline
Hungary and Slovakia signed a deal Tuesday for a 127-kilometre pipeline linking MOL refineries. The project aims to boost energy security by early 2027.
Hungary and Slovakia have finalized an agreement to construct a 127-kilometer pipeline to transport refined oil products between their respective territories. The project will connect refineries owned by the Hungarian energy group MOL, specifically linking the Slovnaft facility in Bratislava with the Danube refinery in Szazhalombatta. According to the Slovak Economy Ministry, the pipeline is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027 and will have the capacity to move 1.5 million tons of fuel, such as gasoline and diesel, annually.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto emphasized the strategic importance of the infrastructure following a signing ceremony in Brussels.
