The Middle East crisis, which saw Iran block shipping through the Strait of Hormuz following military actions by the United States and Israel in late February, has triggered an unprecedented surge in demand for electric vehicles in Pakistan. In the northern city of Rawalpindi, retailers like Haseeb Bhatti reported a 70% jump in sales for retrofitted battery-powered bikes, while franchise owners across the country described the recent interest as the steepest in their history.
"People have this fear that maybe in the near future, they might not get petrol at all," Khan said.
