The British wholesale flooring distributor Headlam Group plc warned on Wednesday that its revenue will remain under pressure until 2027 as geopolitical conflict and rising material costs weigh on the industry. The company, which is based in Birmingham, stated that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has driven up prices for essential materials and energy. The wider housing sector has been forced to account for rising building costs after the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran increased the risk of inflation and squeezed profit margins across the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.

Headlam distributes carpets, vinyl, wood, and laminate flooring to a broad client base including homebuilders, retailers, and architects. Beyond increased fuel and freight expenses, the firm is heavily exposed to the rising cost of the petrochemical polypropylene, a key component in the manufacturing of synthetic carpets.
