Greece seeks EU help over Turkish fishing in Aegean Sea
Greece has formally asked the European Union to intervene against what it describes as unlawful fishing and maritime law violations by Turkish vessels in the Aegean Sea. Shipping Minister Vasilis Kikilias raised the issue with EU officials to protect Greek sovereign rights.

Greece requested European Union intervention after alleging unlawful fishing and maritime law violations by Turkey in the Aegean Sea. The NATO allies have disputed continental shelf boundaries and maritime jurisdiction in the region for several decades. Greece and Turkey have regularly held talks to explore whether they can start discussions aimed at demarcating maritime zones.
